Wildlife park and gardens by the Thames

Beale Park is open every day until November 4th 2018.  Here's how to get there by bus.

Our Reading-Pangbourne-Goring 142 and 144 services pass the entrance to the Park.  You can easily have a morning, afternoon or full day out - or combine it with a visit to nearby Basildon Park, also served by the 142 and 144 services.

Our new summer service started on Monday 9th April 2018. There will be a new express service running Mondays to Saturdays on the 144 direct route leaving Reading Blagrave Street at 11.30, returning from the Park entrance on the A329 main road at 15.24.  This is in addition to three journeys on the 142 route via Whitchurch Hill.  Please see the ''Timetables from April 9th 2018" page for full details.

We'll also be running three return servces on the 144 direct route on Sundays from May 27th until October 28th 2018.

                         Coming from Reading?

These times apply from Monday 9th April 2018

On Mondays to Saturdays there is a new fast bus (service 144) from Blagrave Street stops EO/EP (close to the station and the Town Hall) at 11.30, taking only around 30 minutes to get to the Park entrance.  You can also catch this bus at Broad Street Mall (stop CX) and anywhere along the Oxford Road through Purley and Pangbourne.  There are also services on the slightly longer route 142 at 09.10 (Mondays to Fridays only) and 13.35.  These route 142 buses will also pick up on request at Friar Street stop FC, Station Road stop SB and Forbury Road stop EL, then run non stop to Caversham Library before continuing via Crays Pond, Whitchurch Hill and Whitchurch observing all stops to Pangbourne, Beale Park and Basildon Park.

Our Sundays & Public Holidays service on route 144 will run from 27th May until 28th October 2018.  Buses leave Blagrave Street stops EO/EP at 11.05, and 13.05.

The buses stop on request, so please give a clear hand signal to the driver if you wish to board, and let the driver know in good time if you want to get off.  They are 14 seater minibuses, so look out for small buses, not the regular size!

The return fare is £5 adult, £2.50 children (5-15).  Buses back to Reading leave the entrance on the main A329 road at 12.24 (service 142) and 15.24 (service 144) on Mondays to Saturdays.  On Sundays and Public Holidays 27th May to 28th October (only) you can return direct to Reading at 12.13 and 15.13 (service 144).

If those times are not convenient, why not get the train to Goring where there are connecting buses to the Park, leaving Goring station at 10.15 and 12.15 Mondays to Saturdays (service 142) or at 10.05 and 12.05 on Sundays & Public Holidays 27th May to 28th October (service 144).  It's just a ten minute journey on the bus from Goring.  You can either buy a return from Goring to the Park (adult £4.50, children 5-15 £2.25) or if you buy a single to Reading (adult £5, children 5-15 £2.50) you can come back to Reading on the bus using the same ticket.  Just tell the driver that you want to break your journey at the Park so that you don't get charged twice!  Train fares are extra - contact gwr.com for details.

The buses also pass Pangbourne railway station forecourt (platform 2 entrance) at 11.53 and 14.14 Mondays to Saturdays or 11.28 and 13.28 on Sundays & Public Holidays 27th May to 28th October.

Buses return from the stop on the main road at the entrance to Pangbourne and Reading at 12.24 and 15.24 Mondays to Saturdays or 12.13 and 15.13 on Sundays and Public Holidays 27th May to 28th October.  To Goring, they leave at 11.55, 14.16 and 16.51 Mondays to Saturdays and 11.30, 13.30, 16.30 on Sundays and Public Holidays 27th May to 28th October.

Please be at the bus stop five minutes before the departure times shown as unusual traffic conditions may result in the bus running slightly early.
