Beale Park reopens on 8th February 2018. Here's how to get there by bus.
Our Reading-Pangbourne-Goring 142 service (Mondays to Saturdays) and 144 service (Sundays) pass the entrance to the Park. You can easily have a morning, afternoon or full day out - or combine it with a visit to nearby Basildon Park, also served by the 142 and 144 services.
Our improved summer service is expected to start on Easter Sunday 1st April - details will be available on the website once they have been finalised.
Coming from Reading?
On Mondays to Saturdays there are direct buses (service 142) from Blagrave Street stops EO/EP (close to the station and the Town Hall) at 11.15 and 13.50 Mondays to Saturdays. These buses will also pick up on request at Friar Street stop FC, Station Road stop SB and Forbury Road stop EL, then run non stop to Caversham Library before continuing via Crays Pond, Whitchurch Hill and Whitchurch observing all stops to Pangbourne, Beale Park and Basildon Park.
On Sundays buses on route 144 leave Blagrave Street stops EO/EP at 11.05, 12.55 and 15.10. These services pick up also on request at Friar Street stop FC, Broad Street Mall stop CK and then all stops along the Oxford Road (A329) past Tilehurst Station, through Purley and Pangbourne to the Parks.
The buses stop on request, so please give a clear hand signal to the driver if you wish to board, and let the driver know in good time if you want to get off. They are 14 seater minibuses, so look out for small buses, not the regular size!
The return fare is £5 adult, £2.50 children (5-15). Buses back to Reading leave the entrance on the main A329 road at 12.24, 14.59 Mondays to Saturdays or at 12.16, 14.21 and 16.21 on Sundays.
If those times are not convenient, why not get the train to Goring where there are connecting buses to the Park, leaving Goring station at 09.50, 12.15 and 15.10 Mondays to Saturdays or at 10.05, 12.05 and 14.10 on Sundays. It's just a ten minute journey on the bus from Goring. You can either buy a return from Goring to the Park (adult £4.50, children 5-15 £2.25) or if you buy a single to Reading (adult £5, children 5-15 £2.50) you can come back to Reading on the bus using the same ticket. Just tell the driver that you want to break your journey at the Park so that you don't get charged twice! Train fares are extra - contact gwr.com for details.
The buses also pass Pangbourne railway station forecourt (platform 2 entrance) at 11.53, 14.23 Mondays to Saturdays and 11.29, 13.19 and 15.34 on Sundays.
Buses return from the stop on the main road at the entrance to Pangbourne and Reading at 12.24. 14.59 Mondays to Saturdays and 12.16, 14.21, 16.21 on Sundays. To Goring, they leave at 11.55, 14.25, 16.55 Mondays to Saturdays and 11.32, 13.22, 15.37 and 17.37 on Sundays.
Please be at the bus stop five minutes before the departure times shown as unusual traffic conditions may result in the bus running slightly early.
