Service changes coming from Sunday August 5th 2018
We'll shortly be confirming details of changes to the 144 service from Sunday August 5th 2018. In conjunction with changes to the 142 service, and a new Sunday service between Goring and Wallingford on the 134 route, there will be timing changes to the Sunday Service, and we won't be running on the 144 route on Mondays to Saturdays, apart from some services between Goring, Basildon Park, Beale Park and Pangbourne. Some of these services
will run to and from Reading via Whitchurch Hill. The provisional timetable for the Sunday service from August 5th is shown below. Until then, we'll be operating the current service (see below the fares chart on this page for full details)
New fares from 27th June 2018
Some fares on the 142 and 144 routes are changing from Wednesday 27th June 2018. Details of the new fares are shown below. For some journeys we won't be selling returns anymore because of the way we are reimbursed for Concessionary Pass journeys (too technical and non-sensical to explain here!) but we just can't afford it! If you have any kind of railcard (including a Network Card which anyone can buy) we'll let you come back (the same day) for free. See our 'Pay One Way' page elsewhere on the website.
The service on this route has changed - from Monday 9th April 2018 until Saturday 5th August 2018 we will be running one journey each way on Mondays to Saturdays to give a fast service from Reading direct to Beale Park and Basildon Park. The Sunday & Public Holidays service resumed on Sunday 27th May with three return journeys including extensions to Cleeve at one end and Tesco King's Meadow at the other.
If coming by train, you can join the bus at Goring, Pangbourne or Tilehurst railway stations - and the stop in Blagrave Street is just across the road from Reading station (rail air exit). Buses will also pick up (and set down) at stops outside the Broad Street Mall. All stops are on request - please give a clear hand signal to the driver if you wish to board, or tell them in good time if you wish to alight.
This is the only bus service operating along the route on Sundays; hop on at Pangbourne or Purley and pop into Reading. In the Reading BC area, there's a special offer - adult single just £1.50 no matter how long or short the journey.
