Enjoy the parkland and step back in time

Basildon Park is usually open all year round.  Please check their website for details of opening times and whether you need to book in advance.  Our service on this route runs only on TUESDAYS.  For details please see below.

Our revised Autumn 2023 service on this route starts on Tuesday 5th September 2023.  There will be minor timing changes to all services which we hope will improve punctuality.  Our new morning service from Goring to Reading via Basildon and Beale Wildlife Parks allows visits from Reading if you travel on the 09.34 from Blagrave Street and stay on the bus at Goring Station.  Please see the new timetable below.  The timetable for services before Tuesday 29th August can be found beneath this new one.

Please note, Thames Travel also operate a very limited service between Reading/Pangbourne and Goring passing Beale Wildlife and Basildon Parks on Mondays to Saturdays (route 143).  Please check their website for details.

Sitting elegantly in 162 hectares (400 acres) of historic parkland and gardens, this 18th-century house was purchased by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the 1950s, when it was de-requisitioned after the Second World War. With extraordinary vision, the Iliffes brought Basildon Park back to life, acquiring a collection of fine furnishings and carefully selected Old Masters.

The wooded parkland offers glorious seasonal colour, with spring bluebells, summer buttercups and autumn leaves, while the landscape has been carefully restored to offer wonderful views, peaceful trails and picnic places, with areas for children to run and play. Winter walks are a must.

Basildon Park is normally open every day of the year except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  However opening hours/days may be changed due to coronavirus, and if the location is being used for filming.  You may need to pre-book.  Please check their website for the latest information.

Our Reading-Pangbourne-Goring services pass the main entrance to

Basildon Park and House.  It's a short walk up a gentle hill to the ticket office (follow the signs to the Car Park).

If you're coming from or via Reading, you may find it easier to get to the Park by taking the train to Goring & Streatley station.  The bus runs from the station forecourt and takes around ten minutes.  There are lifts at Goring station if you need them.

Our buses stop on request, so please give a clear hand signal to the driver if you wish to board, and let the driver know in good time if you want to get off.  They are 14 seater minibuses, so look out for small buses, not the regular size!

Please be at the bus stop five minutes before the departure times shown as unusual traffic conditions may result in the bus running slightly early.

If you have National Trust membership, you can get in for free!

For details of opening times and more information about the park and house, please see the website

The park is usually open every day from 10.00 to 17.00 (16.00 on some dates in the winter).  The only days it is usually closed are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but please check the website for details, as sometimes the house and grounds are used for filming in which case it is closed to the general public.  The house itself usually is open from 12 noon.
